Lares

Terms of Service

Effective September 25, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and LNM LLC (“Lares”, “we”, “us”) for Lares, the household bills connector for Muse (the “Service”). By adding Lares to Muse or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Lares is independent of Meta and isn't endorsed by Meta. Your use of Muse is governed by Meta's own terms.

1. What Lares does

Lares retrieves billing information from the household service accounts you choose to connect, such as electricity, water, internet, mobile, and garbage, organizes it, and makes it available to your Muse so you can understand what you pay.

Today, Lares is read-only. It doesn't pay bills, change plans or settings, or cancel services. We plan to add features such as alerts, savings suggestions, and actions on your behalf. Section 6 explains how actions will work, and some features may come with additional terms that we'll show you first.

Lares is in early access. Features may change, and the Service may be unavailable at times.

2. Who can use Lares

You must be at least 18, live in the United States, and be able to form a binding contract. You may use Lares only for your own household.

3. Your provider accounts and our authorization

4. Accuracy, and not financial advice

We work hard to retrieve and present your bills accurately, check their math, and flag values we're unsure of. But information may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong, and your provider's own statement is the authoritative record. Lares provides information, and in future suggestions. It isn't financial, legal, or tax advice. Don't rely on Lares alone to decide whether, when, or how much to pay, and you remain responsible for paying your bills on time.

5. Muse

Lares works through Muse. We're not responsible for Muse, including how it interprets your requests, what it tells you, or what it stores. Information Lares returns to your Muse is handled under Meta's terms and policies.

6. Actions on your behalf (future features)

When we add features that act on your behalf, such as paying a bill or changing a plan:

7. Acceptable use

Don't use Lares to access accounts you aren't authorized to use, break the law or a provider's terms, interfere with or disrupt the Service, probe or test its security without our written permission, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows. To report a security issue, email help@uselares.com.

8. Fees

Lares is currently free. We may introduce paid features in the future. We'll tell you the price in advance, and we'll never charge you without your agreement.

9. Your data

You keep your rights in your data. You give us permission to use it only to provide, secure, and improve the Service as described in our Privacy Policy. You can disconnect providers or delete your data at any time.

10. Ending the Service

You can stop using Lares at any time by removing it from Muse or deleting your data. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, to protect users or the Service, or if we discontinue the Service. Where possible we'll give you notice and a chance to delete your data. Sections 4, 11, 12, 13, and 14 survive after these terms end.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or able to connect to any particular provider.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lares won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, late fees, service interruptions, or data loss, arising from your use of the Service, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some jurisdictions don't allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

If you connect an account you aren't authorized to use, or otherwise breach these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from any resulting claim, to the extent the law allows.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us at help@uselares.com so we can try to resolve it informally. Any claim that isn't resolved will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, except that either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll post the changes here and update the effective date, and we'll tell you in advance, through Muse or by email, about changes that materially affect you. If you keep using Lares after changes take effect, you accept them.

16. General

These terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a term, we don't waive it. You may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
